Road Trip Wednesday: Summer Soundtrack

It's Road Trip Wednesday, a "Blog Carnival" hosted by the lovely ladies over at YA Highway.  They pose a weekly reading/writing question, and through the comments, you can explore and find out everyone's take on the topic.

This week, the topic is your Summer Soundtrack!

I'm one of those people who listens to a little bit of everything.  Heavy metal, country, pop, classical, it all does it for me.

Heart Vacancy - The Wanted: British Boy Bands have been a staple in any playlist I've made this summer.  They just get me pumped up.

I Believe - Nikki Yanofsky: This was Canada's song at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, and it has continued over into this summer.  Not gonna lie, I tear up every time.

Bad Romance (Skrillex Radio Remix) - Lady Gaga: Dubstep has been a new love of mine.  It makes for good driving music.

Chicks Dig It - Chris Cagle: I dig it.  ;-)

What's been your go to song this summer?

Much love, Samantha

  1. Mine has been not so much a go-to song, but a go-to music show... which made this week's RTW a bit of a challenge for me. I like a challenge, though. :)

  2. Lady Gaga definitely. As soon as I learn to drive I'll be blasting out her and Katy Perry. I've mainly been tracking down songs I used to listen to as a teenager and haven't downloaded onto itunes yet. I used to be big on pop-rock boy bands. Busted and McFly were my favourite. =D

  3. I love your choices. I had heard "Heart Vacancy" before and not known who the artists were. I am terribly out of the loop when it comes to pop music.

  4. Your "driving music" comment makes me miss when I had a car--I loved singing along and dancing in my seat. Can't exactly do that when I'm listening to something on my iPod in the subway. :)

  5. Haven't heard of The Wanted, but my nieces are OBSESSED with that British group One Direction. They sing that "You Don't Know You're Beautiful" song non-stop, lol.

  6. Haha! I have "I Believe" as my ringtone on my cell right now. :) I know exactly what you mean about tearing up whenever it's played. Can't help remembering what those weeks in 2010 felt like for us as a country. Very happy memories! :D

  9. Olympics music is always brilliant. I'm using a lot of the London 2012 stuff to write with, and I really love the BBC's Beijing 2008 theme too ^_^

  10. I have The Wanted's cd but haven't gotten around to listening to it yet. After listening to Heart Vacancy, I think I need to get on that!

  11. Hahaha, the 'Chicks Dig it' already has such a fun title. Love that you have a bit of everything.
My summer playlist has been very relaxed, with one favorite song whose lyrics were penned by a YA author :)

  12. I love "I Believe" as well, Nikki Yanofsky has such an amazing voice.

I've got a thing for Boy Bands (still) but I never gave The Wanted a chance, mostly because I didn't care much for Glad You Came. Now that I've heard "Heart Vacancy" I'm definitely going to try them out.

  13. Oh I so agree with Rebecca about missing singing out loud in a car! Whenever I get the chance to rent a car, I go nuts with the radio. And often with Gaga specifically! That dub-step remix is fabulous. I love the diversity in your list!
