Top Ten Books That I Wish Were Taught In Schools
Story time! Out of all the books I was supposed to read in high school, I can count the ones I read on one hand. Romeo and Juliet, 1984, The Old Man and The Sea. That's all of them. If students were given more choice in what to read, I feel that they would read more. After all, I read a ton, just not what they wanted. So, here are my picks.
The Hunger Games would be fun to read as part of a class and Outliers would hopefully encourage some to think about the future but I agree with your opening statement, students should have more of a say in what they read in school.
ReplyDeleteThe Hunger Games would actually capture people's attention, which a lot of books teens currently study fail to do so completely. I wish I'd studied it, anyway :C

We both have Golden & Speak on our lists! I strongly agree that if students were given a choice on what to read they'd have a better outcome with it. Since I am planning to become an English teacher, this is such a huge goal of mine. I want to get the right book, to the right child. It's so, so important.
