This is my first time participating in Road Trip Wednesday, a "Blog Carnival" hosted by the lovely ladies over at
YA Highway. They pose a weekly reading/writing question, and through the comments, you can explore and find out everyone's take on the topic.
This weeks question is...
If you could go on a writing retreat anywhere, where would you go & who would you bring?

Not my photo. I take zero credit. |
Personally, I am more of the reader than the writer within my group of friends. I would take my friends Keen and Leah, and I would act as more of a support system. Maybe I could pull off a couple short stories, but, like I said, writing isn't exactly my strong point.
As for where we would go, I'm picturing a log cabin with a beach on one side, and a forest on the other. This could pretty much be anywhere from Cottage Country to Sweden, as long as there is a beach and a forest. Both elements are required.
Much love, Samantha
Hi! This is my first Road Trip Wednesday, too. I would love to go go Sweden too. I know it's corny but I became interested in visiting after reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo books. So cliche! But the descriptions of the landscape and the city are so intergral to the story it really sold it for me. I just want to travel in Europe in general. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to travel Europe. I'm still debating between that and Russia as my graduation present after University. I also get a lot of the places I want to go to from books!
DeleteI was trying to think where you would get a forest and a beach together like that. Then I recalled Survivor (the reality show)--I seem to remember the contestants being put on a beach that backed up to a large wooded area. So such a place must exist! Though I think I would prefer Sweden. :)
ReplyDeleteCome to Cottage Country. It's a large chunk of central Ontario, Canada, and it is entirely forests and gorgeous lakes!
DeleteSweden was my choice. :) You should see Lake Superior someday. Beaches (though I don't recommend swimming unless you love ice-cold water) and gorgeous forests.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen Lake Superior yet. Is it weird that a goal of mine is to put my feet in all the great lakes? So far I've only tackled Ontario and Huron.
DeleteThat location is just gorgeous. I especially love how it looks out over the water, but is just a quick walk to the shore. I could easily get some writing done there. :)
ReplyDeleteI know eh? I was in a rush this morning and found it on tumblr, or else I would have done a little digging and figured out where about it is!
DeleteUuh, a compromise between woods and a beach - perfect! Hadn't thought of that. (& welcome to RTW :))
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's kind of my dream living situation. :)
DeleteBeach and forest - plenty of that beside the lakes in Finland ;)
ReplyDeleteEekk! Change Sweden to Finland then!
DeleteThat looks perfect! And as a writer, I'd love to bring along my Beta Buddies - good idea ;)
ReplyDeleteThey would likely be the ones doing the writing, but I wouldn't mind test reading! ;-)
DeleteWoods and the beach - perfect!
ReplyDeleteHa, I thought so! :)
DeleteDefinitely a perfect location! I think I'd even drag myself out of bed at dawn every day too, because you know the view would be amazing!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same. A trail nearby for some good hiking would be nice too!
DeleteYay for your first RTW :D Welcome! That log cabin sounds like a perfect place :D And that view: wow, amazing!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I saw that this morning and I thought the same thing!
DeleteHow neat would it be to for your friends to have you there as moral support?!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a beach/forest combo, especially if the forest had plenty of hiking trails.
