Road Trip Wednesday: Best Read of June

It's Road Trip Wednesday, a "Blog Carnival" hosted by the lovely ladies over at YA Highway.  They pose a weekly reading/writing question, and through the comments, you can explore and find out everyone's take on the topic.

This weeks question is...
What was the best book you read in June?

I have two winners for the month of June!

I posted my review of Born Wicked last week.  It's a beautiful book that kept giving me Little Women feels and left me a crying, inconsolable mess.

I have written a review of Before I Wake, but haven't posted it yet because it's loaded with spoilers.  While released only yesterday, my bookstore had put it on the shelf early.  I will post my official review shortly, after those who had to wait for realease day have had a chance to devour it.  But I will say, it was amazing, and my favourite Soul Screamers book thus far.

Much love, Samantha

  1. There is an art to writing really good, spoiler-free reviews--and I don't think I've mastered it yet. My reviews are spoiler-free, but I don't think they're as good as they would be if I didn't care about spoilers!

"Soul Screamers"--that grabs your attention to begin with! :)

  2. I have been hearing about Born Wicked but hadn't heard about Soul Screamers yet - after seeing that beautiful cover I will have to check it out!

  5. I haven't read either of these, but BORN WICKED is one that I've been thinking about reading. I've heard a lot of good things about it. :)

  6. Like Colin, I have trouble writing spoiler-free reviews. Which is why I write half without spoilers and then put a spoiler warning before I start in on the spoiler-filled half.

I've heard of Before I Wake but because it was part of a series I didn't really look too closely. I'll have to look these up!

  8. I saw the author of Born Wicked at an author event (she has the highest, tiniest voice!) and I've had it on my list since then. "Little Women feels" definitely intrigues me; that's one of my favorite classics.

  9. I have had BORN WICKED on my radar for awhile but haven´t read it yet. Your review though makes me thing I have to put it higher on my list!
And I´ll have to look into the SOUL SCREAMERS series :D Thanks for sharing!

  10. Both books sound fantastic, and they both have gorgeous covers! It's really difficult to attempt writing a review without spoilers--especially when there's some AMAZING plot twist that you know you can't go shouting from the rooftops, but it's such an OMG moment that you have to really stifle the urge to talk about it. I don't think I've managed a totally unspoilery review yet.

  14. Born Wicked has been on my TBR list for a while, mostly as a result of other RTWs that recced it! I need to catch up on that list.
