Review: 3:AM Kisses by Addison Moore

Baya Brighton is looking forward to her first year at Whitney Briggs University, new friends, dorm life, and finally being close to her brother again. Love is the last thing on the list, but when Baya meets her brother’s roommate she begins to have thoughts and feelings that make even her blush.

Bryson Edwards has a secret he prefers buried in the past and long forgotten. He prefers loose girls, fast cars, and long nights working at the string of bars his family owns. When his roommate’s sister shows up on the scene, she’s far too innocent and sweet for him but he can’t shake Baya out of his mind and worse, it looks like she’s seeping into his heart as well.

Baya seems determined to show her brother she’s not a little kid and equally determined to use Bryson’s body to prove her point. It’s been made pretty clear that Baya is off limits to Bryson but their undeniable sparks explode into a whole lot more than just a few 3:AM KISSES. (From Goodreads)

Yeah... No.

This was just ridiculous, and not in the good way.

There was nothing appealing about this book.  From the start that could have been funny (but wasn't) to the end that could have been romantic (but wasn't), I was questioning why I was even trying.  Baya's mind just wasn't interesting.  A little bit of deep thought is nice.  Baya had none of that.  Her mind was just sex, sex, I need to lose my virginity, sex.  I think Bryson was the attempt at a deeper, tortured character, but that didn't work either.  Again, sex.  The brother and two friends felt like unnecessary placeholders in the story.  And, again, overly sexualized placeholders.

And let's talk about sex for a minute.  I have absolutely no problem with sex in books.  I'm by no means a prude, but this was just uncomfortable and ridiculous.  It was way too racy for the average reader.  The analogies and writing in this book was not swoon-worthy or hot at all.  It was just uncomfortable.  Sometimes it was kind of humourous, but in that embarrassing way.  Here's one of my favourite gems for you all:

"...he sent my insides quivering right down to my penis pocket..."

Yeah, no.  Although I will admit I laughed.

When I read, I like to be able to share it with others.  I think that is the biggest issue here.  There is no one that I feel like I could actually recommend this book to.  It's not hot, it's just racy and uncomfortable, and that requires a very specific audience.

So, yeah... no.  I just cannot recommend this.  The cover is nice though.

  1. Penis Pocket?! LOL OMG I would never be able to take this book seriously. Thanks for the review. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. I know I won't be reading this one in the future. I don't read a lot of romance, so when I do it's gotta be good.
