This week's featured question is...
What hyped up book do you think was not worth all the talk?
Okay, some people are going to hate me for this answer, but Anna Dressed In Blood. You can read my review here, but it was a huge letdown for me. This book had so much potential and did not meet my expectations at all. I know everyone else loved it, and I really wanted to, but no.
Another one is any of the Fallen series by Lauren Kate. Again, to each their own, but this is the series to which I compare bad books. I can't get into the story. The characters are nothing but annoying. The protagonist is a brat. I kept pushing through the series because of the hype, hoping they would get better. Sadly, they did not, and I have absolutely no interest in spending my time being annoyed with Rapture. I will leave it for anyone who enjoys the series.
Book hype can be such a fickle mistress. What book(s) let you down? How did you feel about Anna Dressed in Blood or The Fallen series?
Much love, Samantha
Oh. I have Anna Dressed in Blood on my kindle to read. Guess I should skip it then?
ReplyDeleteTrish - My FF
I don't know if I would suggest skipping it entirely. Most people seem to LOVE it. It just didn't do it for me. If you already have it on your kindle, give it a chance.
DeleteI've heard mixed opinions about the fallen series, it's the only reason why I haven't looked at it.

I think I've seen four or five people name 'Fallen'. Good to know....
ReplyDeleteI did like 'Anna Dressed in Blood', but I know what you mean about the hype. I'd heard it touted as pretty much the best thing since sliced bread. I though it was a fun book, but I preferred 'Hold Me Closer, Necromancer' by a long shot (similar book, similar MCs).
Thanks, I'm going to look into that one!
DeleteNew follower via FF. I haven't read "Anna" yet. As to the "Fallen" series: I found it okay, but wouldn't rave and rave about it like some people do.
ReplyDeleteI still haven't read Fallen yet. I've seen a lot of mixed reviews and am debating whether or not this is going to be my type of book.
ReplyDeleteNew GFC follower. Our FF
I could not get in to that book .. New follower blog hop follow back great blog http://www.vampandstuff.com
ReplyDeleteI loved Cas's confidence and while I ended up really liking this read it took me FOREVER to get into!
ReplyDeleteI've just started Anna Dressed In Blood... and honestly, I'm pretty annoyed to hear this book is part of a series. From the whole plot synopsis... it really seemed like it should have been a one off book.
ReplyDeleteCan't anyone write a good YA story in one book anymore????
http://littlesqueed.blogspot.com/2012/09/feature-follow.html
hahaa, I hear yah. I thought it was too, but if you enjoy it, you'll likely be pleased that their is a sequal. The ending does leave questions.
